Punch London Club

My second smoke for Binary Day, 10/10/10. I smoked this one on my deck while drinking Bud Light and listening to a podcast. The straight cut gave it a nice draw. It had a slight tobaccoy taste and a ton of smoke for this small cigar. It was mild and possibly under humidified although it burned well as always.

I really like this cigar for when I do not have a lot of time. I should always keep one or two in the humidor.

Information:

A rough appearance on a decent smoke with a smooth draw. The flavor is simple and straight forward; some grass and wood flavors were noted.

Size: 5 x 40
Cigar Shape: Petit Corona
Cigar Filler: Honduras, Nicaragua, Dom. Rep.

Punch London Club

Punch London Club Second cigar of the (wedding anniversary) evening.

I finished up the Victor Sinclair Vintage while hanging out on my neighbor's patio but the party was still going and I wanted something else to smoke but I din't want something that would take another hour to smoke. So I ran home and grabbed the Punch.

I straight cut it with Pete's cutter and lit it with Pete's wind proof lighter.

This cigar was mild to medium for me with a nice smooth taste and a hint of spice. It was the perfect cigar for what I wanted it for and I totally enjoyed it.

Punch London Club

Punch London Club Smoked this one late in the morning on the deck while working. I "V" cut it and paired it with a Coke in a glass with ice.

The appearance was good and appeared to be well made but the first layer of the cap peeled off during my pre-light puff. Also, it was just a tad spongy at the foot.

A couple of puffs in and I inhaled a drag by accident. I think that this is the first time that I have ever done that. Being an ex-smoker, I think that this small ring gauge tricked me into thinking that I was smoking a cigarette. Yuk.

The draw was just OK. Not too tight and not too loose but bordered on too tight. Not a lot of smoke either.

I would say that this cigar was mild to medium for me with a nice smooth taste and a hint of spice. It took me a little over 1/2 hour to get to the nub and it finished up with a nice little kick.

Overall, I liked it but did not love it. I guess my search for that perfect lunch break cigar is still on.

Punch Rothschild

Punch Rothschild This was my second cigar of the day after smoking the Nub Habano at Holt's earlier in the day. I am really liking this old standby that the Punch Rothschild is becoming for me. I bought this one at a coffee shop near my hotel outside of Atlantic City. The coffee shop is more of a cigar shop than a coffee shop and they let you smoke inside. There was a big humidor in back so I went inside. The shop has a big variety but the prices were a couple bucks higher per cigar than I am used to seeing. I didn't see much that was decent and still around $5.00 so I picked up the Punch. It too was a bit overpriced.

I smoked it when I got back to the hotel. It was a bit dry but still a nice melllow smoke. I like these a lot. This one burned unevenly but it may have been due to the windy conditions in the hotel courtyard.

From Cigars International:

Smooth with some spiciness.

With an excellent range of flavor but not overpowering, Punch cigars are superbly constructed and consistently delicious. Honduran, Dominican, and Nicaraguan filler, Connecticut binder and a dark wrapper. Robust and full-flavored - a world class cigar.

Punch has received countless 90+ ratings, including several 91s and ‘Humidor Selection’ honors, noting:
“This attractive, oily cigar has a rich leathery aroma. It’s full bodied and balanced. Flavors include leather, wood and earth. The finish is long.”

Punch Rothschild

Punch Rothschild Second cigar for the day. Well, technically I only smoked 1/2 of a cigar before this one. I bought this cigar at the local liquor store and they charged me double for it. Like $10.00!! They rang it up wrong and I did not catch it until I got home. Live and learn.

I like this one a lot. This was my first Punch.
